Completion of 106MW HiMSEN H54DFV Standard Power Plant Design

17th May 2022

Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. recently completed the design of the 106MW HiMSEN Standard Power Plant based on the H54DFV engine.

Configured with 5 sets of 16H54DFV engines (21.8MW) and having a net output of 106MW, it was fully engineered to the level equivalent to an actual project. With the high efficiency of H54DFV engines, this plant can reduce fuel costs by about 5.7% compared to an equivalent size power plant configured with 12 sets of 20H35DFV engines (9.3MW). In addition, with the reduced number of engines, the number of operating personnel and maintenance time is also reduced, thus we expect it will maximize customer profit with a faster recovery of investment costs.

The Hyundai Auxiliary Module (HAM) and Exhaust Gas Module (EGM), which are modularized auxiliary equipment, were simultaneously developed alongside the 106MW HiMSEN Standard Power Plant to shorten the field installation time.

Meanwhile, the H54DFV engine is the world's largest dual-fuel medium-speed engine developed by Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. By applying the TSTC (Two Stage Turbo Charging) technology, it can produce 16,800 to 22,400 kW output per unit with an efficiency of over 50%.

In addition, the latest technologies such as MSS (Methane Slip Solution) for minimizing methane slip and TVT (Triple Valve Timing) for improving partial load fuel efficiency are applied to the H54DFV engine.

Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. will continue to expand into the eco-friendly power generation market by developing new technologies and improving product competitiveness.
